Character Creation

Creating a character is simply filling out the website form. at minimum you need a name and a strain. Also if someone got you interested in the game, let us know who. They’ll get bonus XP for bringing people into the game. Shortly after submitting, you’ll receive an email with a link to set up your database account. Once your account is ready to go and your first character slot is made active, you can move onto checking into events and purchasing a ticket. You will need your player number for ticket purchases.

Checking in and Buying Tickets

Checking in is signing into the database and signing up for a game. This includes picking your type of ticket, additional purchased XP, your NPC hours, and your assigned cleanup area. This lets us know who’s coming to game and plan accordingly. This should be done as soon as you’re certain you’re coming to game in most cases. The exception is if you’re planning on a limited ticket.

Tickets are primarily priced by the number of NPC hours you’ll do. The more hours, the lower the price. Inversely, the fewer hours you wish to do, the higher the price and a couple ticket options are limited in quantity. If you wish to do 2 or even zero hours of NPC, you will need to buy the ticket here first before checking in to the event on the database. This prevents people from squatting on a limited ticket only to not purchase one in the end.

Getting on site and set up

Your first game, you will need to show an employee your proof of Covid vaccination. Players can arrive on site as early as 5 PM. If you’re on site before game has begun, you’ll want to get your car unloaded and your sleep area set up. There are some bunks in cabins available and plenty of outdoor space to tent.

If you arrive early enough, you’ll see staff setting up the various play spaces. you’re welcome to help out. It is important to let people work if they’re working and to not distract them too much. Feel free to pitch in if you want, it’s a good way to get a preview of the setting and get to know people.

Character Sheet

Your character sheet will be printed out and handed to you before game on. It has all your character info and where you’ll record some things (skill learning, joining faiths, skill uses, etc). It also has your NPC shift hours and cleanup area on there. You will need to have it on you at all times— although forgetting it isn’t the end of the world.

Opening Announcements

Around 9:30 PM, there will be announcements going over general game rules, safety information, potentially triggering content, and any scheduled mods. There are mods tied to skills, mods for new players, entry mods for everyone, etc that might be important enough for everyone to be aware of.

NPC Shift and Monster Camp

Your NPC shift is when you’ll take on the role of threats or random town visitors or another option. The possibilities are endless, there’s an entire post-apocalyptic wasteland to pull from. To prepare for your NPC shift, you’ll need to change into your NPC clothes (neutral colored, unbranded, comfy), take any medications if needed, and be hydrated and fed. Try your best to arrive 10ish minutes early to Monster Camp. This overlap is so there’s no “dead air” so to speak with NPCs being prepped and sent out. You will need your character sheet to be signed off on so we know you didn’t skip your shift. Do not keep your PC gear in Monster Camp— it may get packed up and lost.

Siesta

Siesta is when everyone takes a much needed break for a couple hours. Monster camp will be shut down and no threats or mods are planned to be sent out. Take this time to slow down, take it easy, and attend to your human needs. Grab a snack, have a whole meal, fresh socks, fresh contacts, etc. The public works desk will still be staffed so you can continue to gather and produce during siesta. This is usually Saturday 2-4 PM, but might change occasionally.

Closing Announcements

Once game off is called, everyone will gather somewhere depending on weather conditions to go over some post-game reminders. Check in with your fellow players, hydrate, have snacks, etc. Guides will be assigned to each cleanup area.

Cleanup

Shortly after closing announcements and everyone gets a 15ish minute break, everyone will head to camp cleanup to pack everything up and return everything back to normal. Once your area is done, please check in with other areas to see if they could use a helping hand. Once camp is cleaned up mostly and more hands won’t make the work lighter, you can pack up your personal stuff. As with game setup, it’s important that everyone stays on task.

Afters

This is an unofficial hang out time some players like to participate in. Once everything is cleaned and packed up, some players break out into groups and go somewhere to have a meal, decompress, and to hang out as players, not characters.

Feedback

Please share your thoughts on things you liked, disliked, or would like to see changed. This can be anything from how the space is set up to someone being unsafe during combat or roleplay moments you really enjoyed. We want the good, the bad, and the ugly. We don’t know for sure if we should do something more, less, or not at all unless we know your thoughts and feelings. Submissions can be anonymous if needed and are filtered through employees. We also appreciate suggestions or solutions if you have any in mind. Don’t stop at “I didn’t like this thing,” try and come up with a way to improve it.
